Spring Challenge

THE GREAT BARROW (Spring) CHALLENGE 17th March 2012

The Great Barrow (Spring) Challenge was a fantastic day for everyone, these were the comments of all the competitors who took part. The day started with dry weather, but this soon change as the drizzle which started mid morning and became continuous rain by the afternoon. This did not dampen the spirits of the mixed array of walkers, runners and cyclists who took part in our first ever Spring Challenge, and congratulations to all the people who completed their challenge (list below).

The 26.7 mile walkers went first at 7am together with Andrew Nunn who was the only person to enter and complete the grueling 125 mile cycle ride, this took him round Wymondham in Norfolk and with the heavy rain took 10 hours 45 mins to finish the journey, well done Andy!.

Some of the comments are here:

“Thank you both for turning out such a great Checkpoint today... I was so excited to get SUCH an array of 'treats', I could have kissed you!!!!!! And yes, James, those chocolate button things were a bit yummy. :-)”

“Thanks Glen to you and all the lovely people that looked after us today! Really appreciate it very much ;0) - the massage was fantastic! (We laid on free sports massage courtesy of The Sports Injury Clinic)

“thank you to you and your marshals, they were out for a long time in the rain!

With only 1 injury St John's ambulance had an easy day but their attendance as usual was always appreciated.

It is so nice to see regular faces coming back for each of the challenges and seeing new friendships forged. We look forward to seeing some of you again on the two day Summer Challenge on June 16th and 17th!
